Backup Power Source in Peru
BPS worked with the Western Hemisphere Information Exchange (WHIX) to customize products fit for their needs in Caraz, Peru.
BPS came through for WHIX as they needed a solution for more reliable and cost effiecient power.
Prior to the WHIX project, generator produced electricity was the only power option at a Remote Military Installation. FIU engineers wanted to supplement & store the generator power with power created from multiple hydro-turbines at multiple locations.
BPS customized a BPS 12kW system for their remote location in Caraz. The system allows for greater power needs to be met as well as more limited & efficient generator runtime. All systems exceeded output requests, performance and transit in testing at three different locations in the U.S., Lima and the final site location.
WHIX continues to use two of the systems (the 3kW and the 12kW) in Caraz, while another (3kW) system continues to be used as an educational tool at the National Hydraulics Lab in Lima, Peru.
